Here’s a great gift idea that falls into the category of gifts I’d love to receive, especially at the holidays when it seems my poor feet never catch a break! It’s super simple, as well as cost effective, to make these Peppermint Foot Salts for teachers, friends, or any one with overworked, tired feet (and isn’t that pretty much everyone this time of year?).
Supplies:
- Epsom Salts
- Peppermint Oil
- Red food coloring (optional)
Pour your epsom salts into a big glass bowl, add a few drops of the peppermint oil and a few drops of food coloring (if using…you don’t want so much that it colors their skin!), and stir it up to mix well. You could also use lavender or any other oil you like…I like peppermint for the holidays.
Embellish you containers as you’d like. I used Starbucks Frappucino bottles (it’s a sacrifice to drink them, but you do what you must!), and wrapped two bands of printed paper around it. I punched out a couple of circles and a couple of snowflakes, and added them to the lid and front. After attaching a simple tag, my gifts for teachers were done. On the back of the tag, I wrote that about 1/4 cup salts in a gallon of warm water will work miracles.
You can give this along with a tube of peppermint foot lotion, a pumice stone, or other pedicure tools, but it’s a nice little surprise all on its own!
We gave these to the hourly caregivers a couple of years ago, and they seemed to really appreciate the thought!
Exactly what I needed for the staff at my podiatrist’s office! Mahalo!
So glad to hear that, Marilyn! (And to hear from you…I’ve missed your comments!) Thanks!
Oooo, this looks like something even I can make 🙂 What a great idea!! I will have to get some Frappucinos when I am at the store, today 🙂
They’re the perfect size jar! And your girls can stir up the salts and help decorate the jars, so they can say they made it themselves!
Do you find peppermint oil at the health foods store or is it available at other places, too?
You can get it there, but it’s also in the craft section at Walmart or at craft stores with (I think) soap and candle-making stuff.
