A Warm and Wavy Scarf

I tell you, I get so overwhelmed with deciding what craft project I want to start next…especially knitting projects, because there are so many I want to make!  Last fall, I made this scarf for my mother-in-law’s birthday…and here’s a little secret…I so did not want to give it up, once it was finished, because it turned out to be so lovely and cozy.

Of course, I did what any good knitter would do…stopped at the yarn store on my way home from the post office and bought more yarn to make one for myself!

I love that it seems very complicated, but wasn’t.  The waves were created by a simple to remember pattern of increasing and decreasing in differing spots on each row, so I only had to refer to the pattern chart occasionally.  I knit this while at gymnastics and Tae Kwan Do, waiting to pick up kids at school, and while watching my favorite DVR’ed shows.

I bought this book of patterns from my local yarn shop, but it can be found easily online.  The patterns are simple to follow, even for a novice like me, and they’re just a little bit different than the everyday, run-of-the-mill. And that’s why I’m overwhelmed at choosing a new project, but that’s my problem, not the book’s!

Oh, and just to justify including this post in my Feel Better week, I have to explain that when I’m getting a cold, the back of my neck is always chilled.  When I feel that first little tickle in my throat and a chilliness on the nape of my neck, I reach for a warm, cozy scarf to make me feel better immediately…and this one is perfect!

I’m so glad you put this on your blog. I get so many compliments on the scarf, & Stephanie wanted to know where to find the pattern. I’m sure she’s reading this one. It was perfect during our last week’s freeze. What kind of yarn did you use; it’s so soft.

I love reading your comments, and I'll very likely reply!
