Monster Mouth Bookmarks

It’s beyond exciting to me that two of the three hooligans read chapter books now. The downside is that I’m always finding books lying around with their spines in danger of breaking from being open and upside down to hold someone’s place. Or the felt coasters from the living room start disappearing one by one, being used as bookmarks in the far corners of the house.

So I made bookmarks today.

Pretty stinkin’ cute, right?  And, bonus!  I used googlie eyes on yet another project.  They also allowed me to use up some of the paper scraps that threaten to overwhelm my craft room on any given day.

To make monster mouths for your books, simply cut the corners off envelopes (these are not my favorite Stampin’ Up! envelopes, but just ordinary cheap letter-mailing ones) using some zigzag edge scissors.  Or whatever scissors you have that will look like monster teeth.

To finish them, add whatever decorative papers you’d like, and don’t forget the googlies!

This would be a great kid craft, or a craft to do at a kid’s party (especially if you give a book as a favor, which I love to do!). Unfortunately for the hooligans, they were at school when I decided to make these, so I had fun without them.  I’m sure we’ll be making more soon, with their personal touches added!

  1. What a fantastic idea! My kids would love making these. Pinning!

My weekly linky party–One Creative Weekend–has gone spooky this week in honor of my thirteenth party. If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll visit “One Creative Weekend” on OneCreativeMommy.com (open every Fri-Wed) and link up this idea and anything else you’d like to share. (You can include non-Halloween posts as well, but feel free to link up as many Halloween-themed posts as you like.)

I love reading your comments, and I'll very likely reply!
